AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School Parklands campus opened in 2011, expanding AppleTree’s reach to Washington DC’s Ward 8. Starting with the 2018-2019 school year, Parklands will have a new location in a beautiful brand new space at THEARC West (1801 Mississippi Ave, SE) and the campus is now called Parklands @THEARC. The campus will continue to serve 80 students in four classrooms. The classrooms’ large windows face woodlands and overlook THEARC’s farm, allowing for lots of natural light promoting a positive learning environment.
Parklands @THEARC families are given opportunities to volunteer and parent workshops are offered on a regular basis. Our families are engaged in monthly events and are eager to participate in field trips and literacy nights. Parents also receive a monthly newsletter outlining pertinent information from each class and the school.
This past year, a Teaching Artist from Levine Music worked with Parklands students in the classroom and the Philips Collection partnered with Parklands. In the 2018-2019 school year, the Parklands campus will work even more closely with the Philips Collection since Philips@THEARC is located in the same building.
