The mission of AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School (AELPCS) is to provide young children with the social, emotional and cognitive foundations that will enable them to succeed in school.
We believe that all children are capable of attaining high academic standards, but that many start formal schooling lacking the basic skills that are predictive of later academic success. Research tells us that intensive early education programs can provide children with the language, early literacy, and behavioral skills they need to transition successfully into kindergarten. Our philosophy of education is based on the understanding that literacy is a learned skill, not a biological awakening. While some children appear to naturally develop literacy skills, others need intensive, research–based interventions. Coherent, engaging and skill-based instruction in the years before kindergarten ensures that even the most at-risk children are prepared to achieve high academic standards upon entry into elementary school. Our mission is to provide this instruction so that all children have the opportunity to experience academic success. |
