Breaking News! AppleTree Among Highest Rated i3 Grant Applicants
AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation is among the 49 “Highest Rated” of 1,698 total applicants in the US Department of Education’s Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) grant competition! AppleTree is the only DC-based organization implementing a program in the Nation’s Capital that qualified for i3 funding.
Dr. Craig Ramey of Georgetown University, recently wrote that AppleTree’s approach to school readiness for children from low-income families has created “sizeable advancements in key developmental domains that have been identified in previous research as critical for school readiness. Two years of the [AppleTree] program raised children’s performance by more than a full standard deviation (Effect size = 1.1), placing the AppleTree program among the most effective of which we are aware.”
AppleTree’s strong student outcome data is the centerpiece of its i3 application, which addressed the following priorities: Innovations that Improve the Use of Data, Innovations for Improving Early Learning Outcomes, and Innovations to Address the Unique Learning Needs of Students with Disabilities and Limited English Proficient Students.
