Family Literacy: Thank you, Paula Young Shelton!
AppleTree would like to thank Paula Young Shelton for celebrating Black History Month with our families.
Last week (23 February 2010 and 26 February 2010), AELPCS familieswelcomed Paula Young Shelton to AppleTree in honor of Black History Month!Thank you, Paula Young Shelton, for celebrating Black History Month withus.
Ms. Shelton read sections of her new children’s book, Child ofthe Civil Rights Movement, to AppleTree families, and she discussedways in which parents can use her book to teach their children about theCivil Rights Movement while promoting literacy development at home.
AppleTree gave every family a copy of Ms. Shelton’s book, and Ms.Shelton signed copies of her book for families during the event. If youhave not received a copy of Child of the Civil Rights Movement,please contact your child’s teacher.
